The Government has announced FedCap Employment as the delivery partner covering Cheshire and Warrington for the national rollout of the Jobs Guarantee, a major employment programme designed to help young people move from long-term unemployment into sustained work.
The scheme will provide eligible 18 to 24-year-olds who have been claiming Universal Credit and looking for work for 18 months with a fully funded, six-month paid job.
Government funding will cover 100% of eligible employment costs for up to 25 hours per week at the relevant minimum wage.
For employers, this creates a practical opportunity to bring new talent into the business while reducing the initial cost and risk associated with recruitment.
What are the benefits for employers?
Businesses taking part can benefit from:
- A fully funded employee for six months, covering eligible employment costs for up to 25 hours a week at the relevant minimum wage.
- Support with recruitment and matching, with delivery partners working with employers to identify suitable jobs and match eligible young people to them.
- Ongoing support for the young person, helping them develop the skills and experience needed to succeed at work and progress towards sustained employment.
- An opportunity to develop future talent, giving businesses the chance to introduce young people to their sector and build valuable workplace experience.
- A way to deliver social value, while helping tackle youth unemployment and widening access to employment.
The Government expects the programme to support more than 2,600 young people across Cheshire and Warrington and the wider contract area of the Shires and The Marches, over the next two years.
For Cheshire and Warrington businesses, initiatives such as the Jobs Guarantee also complement the wider work to strengthen the connection between employers, skills provision and the future workforce.
